COM2 & COM3 Courses

COM2 & COM3 Courses

The English department offers a selection of courses to help UW students satisfy the COM2 requirement for the University Studies Program:

  • English 2005: Writing in Technology and Sciences
  • English 2015: Composition and Rhetoric II
  • English 2020: Literature Media and Culture
These sections often have interesting themes, like cartoons, vampires, or zombies.
  • English 2025: Introduction to English Studies
This class is only for English majors and for those considering English as a major.
  • English 2035: Writing for Public Forums

The following courses are also offered to satisfy UW’s COM3 requirement:

  • English 3020: Culture, Communication, and the Workplace

  • English 4010: Technical Writing in the Professions

  • English 4075: Writing for Non-Profits

  • English 4999: Senior Seminar for English Majors
This course is required in the senior year.

Our COM2 and COM3 classes are taught by talented and experienced faculty, and often include activities such as pairing with a student organization or local business so semester projects have real-world impact. Check the course descriptions for each semester to find out more details.

Students in any major can leverage their COM2 and COM3 course requirements into the foundation for a Professional Writing Minor. See our PWM webpage for more details.
