Just enforce the current regulations we dont need more.
There doesnt seem to be any enforcement of regulations.
Are there any regulations?
I hope the majority of this process can be accomplished without the creation of new
regulations. For one thing, neither the Forest Service or the State has the resources to
enforce the regulations they have on the books now.
Regulations are needed as unfortunately not all users use their heads or care about the
protection of environment (run over plants in too little snow) or the safety of others
(speed, encroachment on other use areas once established). Education only goes so far,
human kind has proved over and over. Obviously $ for enforcement of regs is essential.
I dont ski in any of my old favorites because of the danger of being buried in an
avalanche by the snowmobiles
Regulations are for all! Everyone must keep an understanding of each and obey! With no
enforcement there is no control for anybody we all drive to the Mtns to enjoy
air control is all our part. From there regulate who goes where & all
parties are happy.
Role of law enforcement enforce existing + future regulations
Role of regs to maintain the quality + beauty of the forest.
I fully support regulation and restriction of motorized vehicles in the Forest, but
Im concerned that the USFS cannot afford the law enforcement it would take to carry
this out. Allocate sufficient money to enforcement.
Why make rules you cant already enforce!
If a user can buy his or her equipment then education on its proper & safe use
should be mandatory on all users.
More rules makes me a bigger outlaw.
Dont make regulations unless there is a problem that warrants them.
No user fees for FS from people parking on highway yet most of impacts from those users.
Parking poorly regulated
Poor law enforcement of resource damage on Fed. public land.
No means of readily identifying violators or snowmobiles.
Poorly marked sensitive or no snowmobile areas
Sleds are becoming cleaner every year, which is excellent. In the future, like it or
not, 4 stroke engines will eventually be commonplace, virtually eliminating the
"cloud that hovers" over my machine. Parking areas are the only place that I
feel are realistically affected by air pollution, once away from there it is probably a
non-issue. In the sledding circle, we have noticed the huge increase in Colo., Neb., +
Iowa riders. This is their right, but maybe we can use out of-state fees to assist in
these issues. Centennial/Laramie are to a degree tourism driven so these guests are a
welcome boost to our economy. As a sledder, I acknowledge that I will always be an
environmental concern. As a skier, I hear that skiing is a zero pollution sport. This is
true to an extent, but I have yet to see myself of any of my fellow skiers walk to the
mountain. We drive our vehicles.
Regulations are only as good as their enforcement.
If we target snowmobilers with more regs, who will be the next target?
If you want to implement more regs where are you going to get the funding
to enforce it? You dont have the staff or $ to implement more so why bother?
How do you regulate when there is enough snow to sled or ski, Mother Nature + $ make
those decisions for all of us.
Parking at Green Rock requires regulation and patrolling. Charging for "safe
parking" is a viable option.
The current regulations seem fair to me. Im concerned about being excluded from
areas that I have always had access to as multiple use. Everyone deserves access to the
forest areas.
I do not want regulation to be the beginning of land closures!!
Skiers need to pay for permit just like snowmobilers
Inadequate laws + regulations no restrictions on snowmobile use
No enforcement at all!
There has been no regulation ----- even the rules that should be enforced
i.e.:
Snowmobiles on trails
Parking violations
State stickers
Natural area
The Forest Service has not managed to its potential.
Snowmobilers have shot up air pollution monitors, destroyed traffic counters, and seem
to think they own the darn world. They need to be fined and jailed when they violate our
laws.
Forest Service / state do not enforce parking, littering, registration.
More regulations create more loopholes, problems. Read "The Death of Common
Sense."
Snowmobiles are currently correctly regulated.
Parking is not correctly regulated
No more restrictions needed no issue just enforce.
I like the regulations and law enforcement just the way it is. There is no problem.
People are just looking to create a problem
Regulations should apply to everyone! One group is required to purchase permits to use
the range, the rest are excluded. The money generated from permits also provides grooming
for both parties.
The role of regs, law enforce. is only to enforce what the people want. (not to make own
rules)
Land use should be available EQUALLY to all. And any fee or regulation should also be
imposed on ALL who enjoy our land + earth.
I own a home next to Forest Road #500. at Albany. The speed sign of 15 miles per hour is
up. We need enforcement of this badly. Thank you
More regulations are NOT needed. They only create more problems + waste
everybody's time + money.
Raise the user fees (and make all users regardless of activity) so law enforcement +
trails systems can do the job properly.
Skiers need to pay for their trails + search & rescue.
The role of law enforcement + regulation is to prevent damage to the FS resource and
create a safe environment for recreation and other uses.
Unleashed pets in parking area
Speed of all vehicles in parking areas
Littering
Parking in areas not meant for parking
Many of the current regulations are rarely, if ever enforced. Without enforcement new
regulations are meaningless.
One comment I saw was snowmobiles register their sleds what do skiers register?
Response: I buy parking permits to use + support trails & parking lots. Snowmobiles
need trails groomed very $$ skiers dont have this need. Skiers also
have no lasting effect on the environment i.e. air pollution
I as a snowmobiler pay to register my sleds, what do skiers have to register
Keeping heavy motorized use to areas and corridors
Parking regulations
Permits
Number of users.
Make sure s/m are registered. That's all.
Enforce the rules that are already in effect. Severely limiting the major users and
revenue producers is communist. There are already ski only areas. That are hardly used.
Snowmobilers pay for trails and grooming, others do not if they are going to use the
trails pay their fair share
Responsible people don't create problems no matter their interests. Have minimal
regulation. Everybody should pay the same, motorized or not.
What ever the rules and regulations are enforce them do not pass the buck to WYDOT or
the county
We need regulations for snow machines. As far as I can tell there are not any.
Machines in Wilderness Areas
Regulations are for people to abide by them so people arent running other people
over by speeding or ruining the environment.
Provide adequate regulations to provide safety. Enforce them!
Snowmobilers have to buy registrations. True. So should skiers, dog racers, and all else
who use the snowmobile trails.
Im a snowmobiler I pay for registration and also help community business (hotels
restaurants) snowshoer & skiers dont pay anything and they complain.
Too few regulations for snowmobilers
No enforcement of current rules (due to lack of law enforcement)
We have way to many regulations now. More restrictive regulations will only discourage
winter recreational use.
Safety
& access should be prime role of regulations.
If more winter access (parking lots, plowed roads) many conflicts would be
solved by spreading people away from one another.
Get forest service off their butts and patrol & do their jobs!
Issues include:
Too many roads/trails that cannot be maintained due to too much defense spending
We need noise & pollution regulations-this is a forest-not a highway.
Regulations need to be strictly enforced
Please facilitate communication between groups.
The government is doing the best they can in light of the corporate interests
controlling it!
