ENR Scholarships


Through generous donations from supporters of the Ruckelshaus Institute and the Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources, we offer several scholarships for ENR students and other students on campus interested in environmental and natural resources issues.  Scholarship opportunities are subject to change so contact SENR for current information.

Yellowstone Summer Field Course Scholarship
The Yellowstone Summer Field Course provides students with an opportunity to spend 30 days in Yellowstone National Park exploring the ecological, cultural, and geological dimensions of the region. The Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources is now offering the Erivan Haub Scholarship to cover the full course fee for one Wyoming student.

Haub Student Research and Creative Activities Grant
This grant, offered three times each year, is available to undergraduate and graduate students to support student research or creative activities related to the environment or natural resources.  For the 2009 award recipients, click here.

Morris K. Udall Scholarship
In 2008, the Foundation expects to award 80 scholarships of up to $5,000 and 50 honorable mentions on the basis of merit to sophomore and junior level college students. Scholarships are offered in any of three categories:  To students who have demonstrated commitment to careers related to the environment; or To Native American and Alaska Native students who have demonstrated commitment to careers related to tribal public policy; or
To Native American and Alaska Native students who have demonstrated commitment to careers related to Native health care. The Udall Foundation seeks future leaders across a wide spectrum of environmental fields, including policy, engineering, science, education, urban planning and renewal, business, health, justice, and economics. The Foundation also seeks future Native American and Alaska Native leaders in public and community health care, tribal government, and public policy affecting Native American communities, including land and resource management, economic development, and education.  
 
Timeline and Procedure: The University of Wyoming may nominate up to six excellent sophomores and juniors.  Students interested in being nominated for the award should submit a letter of interest to Courtney Carlson by January 16, 2010, in 212 Wyoming Hall.  The letter should briefly outline the student's qualifications and reasons for applying.  Please also include unofficial transcripts.  For additional information on the pre-application process, call 766-2068 or e-mail

Up to six nominees will then be invited to complete the Udall Scholarship application, which can be viewed at http://udall.gov/scholarship/ and which is due on March 4, 2010.  The application requires an essay, responses to several questions, transcripts, and letters of recommendation.  For the full announcement, click here.

Haub School Plummer Scholarship
Available to full-time undergraduate and graduate students with a declared major or minor in the School of Environment and Natural Resources.  Applications are generally accepted in March, with awards made for the following summer and academic year. 

University-wide Plummer Scholarship
Available to full-time undergraduate and graduate students interested in natural resource management/conservation.  Applications are generally accepted in March, with awards made for the following summer and academic year. 

Erivan Haub Scholarship
Available to UW students affiliated with the School of Environment and Natural Resources or related areas of study.  Previous Haub Scholarship recipients have received financial assistance for field courses or for tuition expenses.

Vern Bressler Fisheries Fund
Available to juniors, seniors, and graduate students who are Wyoming residents studying fisheries biology and management.  Contact the Zoology and Physiology Department for more information.
