A Legacy of Conservation

HISTORY:
Since 1985 over 100 Conservation Corps in 36 states have been created, and successfully implemented diverse projects ranging from conservation work to health and human services. Founded in 2006, the Wyoming Conservation Corps (WCC) builds on the long legacy created by the Civilian Conservation Corps of the 1930's and the Youth Conservation Corps of the 1970's. The WCC continues this legacy by carrying out the highest caliber of service for Wyoming's public lands. Participation in the WCC program provides members with an opportunity to learn first-hand the complexity involved with and reasoning behind current natural resource resource management decisions in Wyoming.

The program has grown exponentially since its inception. In the summer of 2009, 40 students participated providing the public lands of Wyoming with an invaluable and astounding 28,000 service hours!
