Camnula pellucida, the clearwinged grasshopper, is found commonly
at mid to high elevations and at lower elevations where moist grasses occur.
It is especially common in the Black Hills, Big Horn Mountains, and the
mountains of northwest Wyoming but can be found throughout the state. This
species passes the winter as eggs and hatches in the spring. Adults can
often be found as early as late June. It feeds on grasses, and when populations
are dense damage to pastures can be severe.
