Threebanded Grasshopper

Hadrotettix trifasciatus (Say)

Hadrotettix trifasciatus occurs east of the Continental Divide in Wyoming. It prefers dry rangeland on coarse soils, frequently concentrating on dry, rocky hilltops and patches of barren ground. Eggs overwinter in the soil. Adults are present from mid July to September. It is a mixed feeder but prefers forbs such as globemallow, locoweed, and wild sunflower. It causes little if any economic damage in Wyoming.
