Melanoplus complanatipes is an uncommon grasshopper found in
the sagebrush desert of southwestern Wyoming. It may occur as far east
as Wheatland. Its gray coloring is very similar to the color of dead sagebrush
stems. Eggs are assumed to overwinter in the soil. All adults were captured
in August. It is known to feed on big sagebrush.
