Melanoplus oregonensis is a common grasshopper in the mountains
of northwest Wyoming. It probably occurs in the Medicine Bow and Sierra
Madre Ranges but has not yet been collected there. This species occurs
in areas of high-altitude sagebrush and grasses, dry forest meadows, and
alpine tundra. Its life cycle and feeding habits are not known in Wyoming,
but adults are present in August and September. It can be quite numerous
but its economic significance in Wyoming is unknown.
