Pardalophora apiculata (Harris)

Adult

Size: 30-60 mm.

General distribution: Canada, S. to North Carolina, Oklahoma, and New Mexico.

Distribution in New Mexico: Roosevelt, Sandoval (Sandia Crest).

Habitat: Forest clearings.

Host: Reared on grasses.

Adults Present: April-July.

Notes: A large, band-winged grasshopper with inner hind femora yellow to orange, with two to three bands; hind wings rose-red. No crepitation. Not economically important.
