Poecilotettix pantherina (Walker)

Common name: PANTHER-SPOTTED GRASSHOPPER.

Size: 25-29 mm.

General distribution: S. central Arizona, E. to SW New Mexico, S. into Sonora, Mexico.

Distribution in New Mexico: Hidalgo.

Habitat: Desert grassland? At least one specimen collected on gravelly slope among grass, shrubs, and Nolina.

Host: Composite forbs.

Adults Present: April-November.

Notes: Spur-throat grasshopper with long tegmina; color greenish-yellow, with numerous black and white spots; antennae banded black and white. Not economically important.
