Trimerotropis gracilis (Thomas)

Common name: THOMAS' SLENDER GRASSHOPPER.

Size: 28-35 mm.

General distribution: Rockies and Colorado plateau to central New Mexico and Arizona.

Distribution in New Mexico: Bernalillo, Cibola, Los Alamos, McKinley, Rio Arriba, Sandoval, San Juan, Taos, Torrance, Valencia.

Habitat: Sagebrush areas; mountains and higher elevations.

Host: Probably sagebrush-wormwood (Artemisia spp.).

Adults Present: June-September.

Notes: Speckled gray grasshopper; no bands on tegmina; basal area of hind wings yellow; hind wings with or without bands; inner hind femora black and gray; hind tibiae gray. Not economically important.
