Common name: BLACK-WINGED GRASSHOPPER.

Size: 32-50 mm.

General distribution: Wyoming and W. Nebraska, S. through Arizona, New Mexico, and W. Texas, S. into Mexico.

Distribution in New Mexico: Bernalillo, Catron, Colfax, Grant, Guadalupe, Harding, Hidalgo, Lea, Lincoln, Luna, Mora, Otero, Quay, Sandoval, San Miguel, Socorro, Torrance, Union.

Habitat: Mostly bare, flat places in grasslands.

Host: Unknown.

Adults Present: June-November.

Notes: Similar to T. latifasciata, but with broader black band on hind wings. Abdomen red; inner hind femora with single pale band; hind tibiae orange. Not economically important.
