Trimerotropis verruculata (Kirby) [= T. suffusa Scudder]

Common name: CRACKLING FOREST GRASSHOPPER.

Size: 28-38 mm.

General distribution: (suffusa ssp.) British Columbia, Canada; S. to California, Arizona, and New Mexico.

Distribution in New Mexico: Colfax, Los Alamos, Rio Arriba, Sandoval, Taos.

Habitat: Banks in riparian areas, along roadsides or in forest clearings.

Host: Forbs.

Adults Present: June-September.

Notes: Body dark brown to black; base of hind wings yellow, outer half smoky or dark brown; hind tibiae brown to blue; no bands on tegmina. Not economically important.
