Phlibostroma quadrimaculatum, or "P-quad," is common
throughout the grasslands of eastern Wyoming. It does not occur west of
the Continental Divide in Wyoming. It becomes most numerous in the shortgrass
prairies. The eggs overwinter in the soil. Adults are common from mid July
to late August. This species is primarily a grass feeder and prefers blue
grama. At times it becomes abundant and control programs are necessary
to prevent damage to rangeland forage.
