David Mohrbacher, P.E. – Director
Mr. Mohrbacher has been Director of the Enhanced Oil Recovery Institute (EORI) located at the University of Wyoming since 2010. He has worked with enhanced oil recovery (EOR) processes since 1978 and has 35 years of experience providing petroleum and chemical engineering experience to industry leading corporations. Mr. Mohrbacher was a Senior Petroleum Engineer for Amoco Production Company when he managed initiation of CO2 flooding in the Wertz Tensleep, the first large-scale carbon dioxide (CO2) EOR project in Wyoming. He has designed and operated EOR projects that include use of surfactant/polymers, polymers, carbon dioxide, and steam. He has generated feasibility studies for use of carbon dioxide generated from various anthropogenic sources including coal- and gas- fired electric generation plants and coal conversion facilities. Mr. Mohrbacher’s current responsibilities include direction and management of staff to evaluate use of EOR for recovery of stranded oil in more than 600 oil fields in Wyoming.
