Mike is a 30+ Oil and Gas executive with a broad background in Petroleum Engineering. Recent focus/areas of interest include CO2 EOR, Industrial CO2, Decarbonization Policy, oil and gas A&D and oil and gas operations. Worked Wyoming assets for Denbury resources, with regard to both EOR and CO2 sourcing. Mike managed the efforts around CO2 sourcing, commercial negotiations and use of anthropogenic CO2 in Denbury assets. He was involved in working with Anadarko to complete the all-important pipeline interconnect between the DNR and APC pipeline systems. Mike was involved in the early operations of the Riley Ridge asset including state and federal operations permitting. Mike has been a member of previous versions of the Technical Advisory Board at EORI.

March 2016 to Present – Principal, Blincow Consulting, LLC

  • Consulting business working to support operations, facilities, transition activity and A&D needs.

  • General Petroleum/Production Engineering Support

  • Member of US Technical Advisory Group (TAG) for ISO Technical Committee TC-265: Carbon dioxide capture, transportation, and geological storage. Specific involvement in Working Group 6 – EOR.

September 2014 to March 2016 – Sr. Vice President Operations and Drilling, C12 Energy, Denver Colorado - small private equity backed start up with a focus on EOR and enhanced water floods.

  • Leadership position building and developing an operations team to manage ongoing waterflood operations and development of CO2 floods in various company owned assets.

  • Responsible and accountable for all Lease Operating Expenses and Capital programs.

  • Development of fit for purpose processes for new company including Health Safety and Environment policy, operating philosophy and well workover and construction process.

March 2013 to September 2014 - Asset Manager CO2 Supply, Denbury Resources, Plano Texas

  • Lead a multi-disciplined team to maintain and develop Denbury’s CO2 producing assets in Mississippi and Wyoming.

  • Responsible to develop and optimize long range plans for Wyoming new field development. Management responsibility for startup, commissioning and operations of cryogenic gas plant in Wyoming.

  • Continue exploration activity in CO2 assets as well as maintain base CO2 production.

2011 – 2013 - Director- Anthropogenic CO2 Supply, Denbury Resources, Plano Texas

  • Lead business development efforts to identify and secure new sources of man-made CO2 for Denbury’s EOR projects company wide.

  • Provide support to Denbury Government Relations to develop and influence ongoing state and federal legislation related to Anthropogenic CO2 and CO2 EOR.

  • Serve as primary liaison with Department of Energy and partners on DOE funded projects in which Denbury participates.

  • Participate in various CO2 EOR – CO2 Storage industry conferences as a speaker representing Denbury.

2010-2011 - Production Manager North Region, Denbury Resources, Plano Texas

  • Led integration efforts for production operations of Encore Acquisitions purchase for key North Region assets in Montana and North Dakota.

  • Initiated CO2 EOR planning process for key assets in Montana.

  • Developed field production team for a five rig drilling program in the Bakken Shale.

2009 – 2010 - Production Manager West Region, Denbury Resources, Plano Texas

  • Directed efforts for production engineering, production operations and facility engineering for Denbury’s primary growth assets.

  • Managed start up two CO2 EOR floods in Louisiana

  • Led integration efforts for two major field acquisitions in the Texas Gulf Coast.

2008-2009 - Manager of Reserves Engineering, Denbury Resources, Plano Texas

  • Managed the annual reserve process for the company reserves. Worked closely with external reserve consultant to develop annual reserve and SEC reporting.

2006 – 2008 - Sr. Production Engineering Advisor, Occidental Oil and Gas Corp, Houston, Texas

  • Sr. Staff position in Head office. Responsible for initiating and leading a global Production Surveillance initiative. Developed production surveillance guideline document for the company and established a community of practice with all business units.

2003 – 2006 - Project Coordinator, Occidental Middle East Development Company, Dubai UAE

  • Responsible for identifying and securing new business development opportunities in the Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia.

2002 – 2003 - Manager of Facilities and Production, Occidental Petroleum of Qatar, Doha Qatar

  • Responsible for Production Operations, Facility Engineering and construction support to ongoing 100,000 BOPD offshore operation.

  • Direct reports include Operations Team Leader and Head of Facilities. Departmental responsibility for 170 Oxy personnel plus 150 contract personnel.

  • Accountable for delivery of production and HES targets. Financial responsibility for $37MM operating and maintenance budgets associated with ongoing operations.

1998 - 2002 - Head of Petroleum Engineering, Occidental Petroleum of Qatar Doha, Qatar

  • Management of all Petroleum Engineering activities for offshore oil field.

  • Management and supervision of all Production Geology and Geophysics and Reservoir Engineering activity.

  • Chairman of Joint Technical Committee that has review and approval authority on all technical issues with the State Oil Company.

1996 – 1998 - Sr. Project Engineer–Facilities, Occidental O &G (Malaysia) Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

  • Responsible for monitoring and executing the detailed design of the gas development topsides in the design contractor’s office.

1995 – 1996 - Engineering Manager, Occidental Pakistan Ltd., Islamabad, Pakistan

  • Responsible for all Pakistan engineering functions including reservoir, planning, operations engineering and HES. Responsibilities included personnel management, personnel training, budgeting and budget compliance, and technical review and justification of ongoing projects.

1982-1995 - Sr. Project Engineer/Sr. Petroleum Engineer, Enserch Exploration Inc. Dallas, Denver and Houston

  • Relevant offshore facility project management including deep-water design, fabrication and installation of equipment on two deep-water GOM projects.

  • Relevant Rocky Mountain experience in Uintah and Williston basins. Tight gas reservoir and production engineering role.
