Research interests: water flow, heat transport, and solute transport in the soil, linkages with the atmosphere, the surrounding terrain, and the deeper sub-surface (e.g. the groundwater), modeling the soil-water-plant-atmosphere system, both at the field scale and at the catchment scale.
Research interests: nutrient cycling in natural, disturbed, and agricultural settings from the perspective of landscape and soil organic matter dynamics, interactions among landscapes, plant communities, and land use affect resiliency and degradation-recovery processes as applied to on-the-ground ecological restoration and sustainable management.
Research interests: spatial and temporal variability of soil microbial communities, response and recovery of soil microbial communities and their ecosystem functions to various forms of disturbance, influence of land management practices on soil microbial community structure and function, nutrient cycling.
Research interests: Remediation of contaminated soils, sediments and water, and cycling of P and S in the environment, microbially-mediated contaminant transformation, mineral-water interfacial reactions, formation and structure of environmental nanomaterials.
