Campus Planning

Long Range Development Plan (LRDP)

A long range development plan is a comprehensive policy and land use plan that guides campus growth. For the University of Wyoming, the LRDP identifies the physical development, principles, guidelines and processes needed to support the academic goals of the University. The Plan recommends the best use and design direction of existing and future land holdings, natural resources, and funding opportunities. It articulates the campus character and includes a comprehensive, integrated and sustainable framework that serves as a planning level blueprint for capital projects, open space development, transportation and utility infrastructure, and land-use programs.

The LRDP strives to balance a well-defined development framework and campus character flexibility, while acting as an overall guide to implementing specific projects, design and construction, schedules and funding priorities.

The LRDP can be downloaded from the University Plans tab at the left.

Historic Preservation Plan

The University of Wyoming is a unique and distinguished institution that is the product of a rich history and the efforts of many individuals: visionary leaders of the Wyoming Territory, a long succession of devoted university presidents and faculty, and the citizenry and legislators of the state of Wyoming. The impact of the University of Wyoming on the development of the state’s economy as well as the intellectual and cultural enrichment of its populace is unquestionable.

The Laramie campus is the embodiment of that history and is a site of great symbolic as well as intrinsic importance to the State of Wyoming. The Historic Preservation Plan is a resource and guide to the ongoing stewardship of the historic buildings and landscapes that contribute to the campus’s special character. Embracing the need for growth and change, the plan reaffirms campus guidelines for new construction that express the present and a vision for the future, while preserving the historic attributes for which the campus is known.
