ENGL 1010 and 2015 Descriptions

ENGL 1010

ENGL 1010: Composition & Rhetoric is an introductory college writing course highlighting  expository writing and close, critical reading. The class is designed to prepare students for the types of writing expected at UW in their majors. At the end of the semester, students should be able to complete an expository and research essay that reflects students' own point of view and that demonstrate thoughtful engagement with complex readings at some length.

In the fall semester, Fall Bridge ENGL 1010 instructors work with UWYO 1101 instructors to connect some themes and readings in the two classes.

ENGL 2015

ENGL 2015: Composition & Rhetoric II is a second-semester writing class that focuses on written, oral, and digital communication. Students will explore communication in their discipline and develop advanced research and writing skills. By the end of the semester, students should be able to critically analyze, present, and deliver information for specific audiences and contexts. ENGL 2015 fulfills the second of three required writing classes that all students must fulfill at UW.
