Dear Music Camper:
Over the past 63 years, the University of Wyoming Summer Music Camp has created a unique niche serving the students in the state of Wyoming and the surrounding region. Located in the Fine Arts Center on the campus of the University of Wyoming, the UW Summer Music Camp is a wonderful place to learn and make music in a beautiful mountain setting. Our camp allows students to have fun, broaden their musical horizons, and learn something new each day in a caring and supportive environment. Our instructors are chosen not only for their expertise and passion but also for their ability to work with student musicians and bring their camp subject alive in a way that is engaging and entertaining. Our facilities are state-of-the-art, our resources and supplies are top-notch and our student to teacher ratios are exceptional.
Major performing ensembles include Concert Choirs, Advanced Wind ensembles, Symphony Orchestra, Concert Bands, Jazz Big Bands, Piano ensembles, and Jazz Combos. Elective ensembles include Chamber String ensembles, Indonesian Gamelan ensemble, Peruvian Panpipe ensemble, Percussion ensemble, Drum Major/Leadership, Marching Percussion, Color Guard, and Chamber Music Ensembles. Piano students may take advantage of our outstanding advanced Piano curriculum including Piano master classes, advanced Piano repertoire class, and Piano technique classes.
You may also choose to learn beginning or intermediate music theory, sharpen your skills in beginning and advanced conducting, "kick it up a notch" in vocal and instrumental jazz improvisation, learn the tips and tricks of double reed making , explore the music of different cultures, compose original compositions in a state-of-the-art computer music lab, learn piano, and much more!
