Teaching Young Children: Early Childhood & Elementary Education

 FIG Description:

What characteristics exemplify professionalism in early childhood education?  What is the role of teachers in advocating for children’s rights?  How does society’s view of children and childhood impact how and what we teach?  As a member of this FIG you will share experiences with others committed to improving the lives of children through work in schools.  Together we will explore the purpose of education and how the individual and collective voice of educators can serve young children. Members of the FIG will engage in practical experiences in classrooms and communities that promote a deeper understanding of the roles and responsibilities of early childhood educators.  Students will develop skills in critical thinking and reflection as they study current issues related to the education of young children.  We will apply our knowledge and skills to serve the children, teachers, families, and schools within our community.
