Why Help?

MICHAEL PISHKO

Dean, College of Engineering and Applied Science
"As dean of the College of Engineering and Applied Science, I work closely with our faculty and staff to make student success is our top priority.  We do this by helping students in need with scholarships and providing tutoring, mentoring, and experiential learning opportunities for students.  Donor support for these programs is critical to their success, and that’s why my wife and I give to the college.  We hope that you will join us in supporting our students and help them reach their full potential.”

TONIA DOUSAY

Assistant Professor, Department of Professional Studies
"Until we try to do something, we don't really know the how of it. These words drive my research and teaching, but it's a challenge to afford the emerging tools and technology that accompany the exciting activities we do in a makerspace. Through annual giving and donations to the foundation, though, I'm able to focus on having fun with our students, preparing them for jobs that don't yet exist, and pushing research in problem-based learning and learning design forward.”

KAITLYN HILL

Junior, Statistics
Things can be somewhat challenging when trying to balance paying bills, working full time, completing mounds of school work, and participating in school activities. I’m thankful for my job as a Cowboy Caller because I get an intriguing social interaction with supportive UW Alumni, but I also get to learn new things about the University of Wyoming nearly every day. This job has provided me with more knowledge than I could have ever imagined possible—hearing donors tell their stories about their experiences with the University of Wyoming and the reasoning for their continual support is something I will always cherish about this job. Through the foundation I am able to attend a job that makes me happy as well as gives me ample time for my studies—that is something I will forever be grateful for."

HALEY HIGHT

Senior, Speech Language Pathology
"As a first-generation college student, my family and I had little knowledge of how to cope with the financial stress of attending a four-year institution. As a freshman, I looked for a job and found the Call Center. Little did I know that while making these phone calls to alumni and friends of the University of Wyoming, I would truly understand the importance of philanthropy. My experiences while working for the University of Wyoming Foundation have consisted of harnessing my intra-personal skills, customer service traits, and overall learning why donors are so crucial to the function of the university. UW donors provide a unique set of supports that not many get to take advantage of. Working at the Call Center has opened my eyes to how underappreciated these individuals are within the student community. Being a Cowboy Caller is more than trying to raise money for the university. The core of our purpose is to network and make lasting connections with those who give so much to our institution."
