A $1 million gift from the Daniels Fund, the final piece of a multiyear $5 million pledge, supports the mission of the UW Trustees Education Initiative, which is to elevate the College of Education to national preeminent status in professional educator preparation and to reform, improve, and enhance P–12 education in Wyoming. The Daniels Fund is a private charitable foundation established by cable television pioneer Bill Daniels. Its goal is to make life better for people of Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah through scholarships, grants, and ethics initiatives. It furthers the values of its founder, including that relationships are essential for business, people can improve themselves with a helping hand, an entrepreneurial spirit is important, and we should hold ourselves to the highest of standards. They have also supported UW scholarships and ethics initiatives.

“We value our relationship with the University of Wyoming and remain encouraged with the transformations the Trustees Education Initiative has gained,” says Hank Brown, interim president and CEO, Daniels Fund. “This project has established an impressive statewide partnership between state and local leaders, educators, and the business community. Their commitment to improve and elevate their operation to prepare top-notch teachers and school leaders across Wyoming’s P–12 education system is commendable. Thanks to the commitment of all involved, the Trustees Education Initiative has generated solid results and is positioned to transition the University of Wyoming College of Education’s professional educator program into one of the best in the country.”
