Does My Company Match My Gift?

Cryptocurrency

The University of Wyoming is one of the first universities in the nation to accept cryptocurrency donations.  For further information on making a donation via crypto, contact the foundation at foundation@uwyo.edu or (307) 766-6300 or use our Give Crypto form.

Establishing an Endowment

When people give a gift to the University of Wyoming, they often establish an endowment, as opposed to the funds going directly toward immediate needs. This is because an endowment is a way to extend the life of the gift. For questions about endowments or to establish one, contact John Small, Senior Associate Vice President for Development, at (307) 766-3934 or john.small@uwyo.edu

Annual Giving

Annual Giving is the only fundraising program of the university that reaches all alumni, friends of UW, students, and parents of students on a yearly basis. Its focus is on acquiring regular yearly contributions, thus creating a vital and dependable source of non-legislative support for Wyoming's university. You should be receiving invitations for annual giving in the mail.  If you are not, contact Clancee Rea, Director of Donor Pipeline Development, at (307) 766-3879 or clancee.rea@uwyo.edu to start receiving them and to make a gift, or you can give online.

Gift Planning

The UW Foundation's gift planning staff assists donors in integrating charitable gifts into their financial, tax, and estate-planning objectives, maximizing benefits to both donors and the University of Wyoming. Gift planning provides donors with an immediate tax deduction and other benefits such as life income, continued use of gift property, or elimination of capital gains tax. With questions or if you are considering UW in your estate plans, contact Brett Befus, Associate Vice President for Development, at (307)766-4259 or email pg@uwyo.edu.

Donor-Advised Fund

You want your charitable donations to be as effective as possible when you give. Donor-advised funds or DAFs are the fastest-growing charitable giving vehicle in the United States because they are one of the easiest and most tax-advantageous ways to give to charity. You can support UW through a DAF. Click here to start a grant from your donor-advised fund or to find out more.

Qualified Charitable Distributions

Donors 70 1/2 or older are eligible to make a tax-free donation directly from their IRA to the University of Wyoming through the UW Foundation. This is called a Qualified Charitable Distribution, or QCD. QCDs allow donors to give up to $100,000 per year, tax-free, regardless of whether or not they itemize deductions on their tax returns. A QCD counts towards your Required Minimum Distribution.

Corporate and Foundation Development

Some of the biggest impacts across the University of Wyoming campus have come from the support of corporations and foundations. Student by student, corporation- and foundation-supported scholarships have built a wealth of human capital. Gifts campus-wide have built buildings, created whole new programs, and underwritten research that changes the world as we know it. Contact Angela Ver Ploeg, Director of Corporate Engagement, at (307) 766-1939 or angela.verploeg@uwyo.edu or Katrina McGee, Senior Director of Foundation Development and Research Collaborations, at (307) 766-4266 or kmcgee1@uwyo.edu.

In Memory

A gift in memory is particularly moving as it is a tribute to the life of someone special. The legacy of your loved one lives on in the lives of UW students. What a lasting tribute to that special person. For further information on making a donation in memory of a mentor or a loved one, contact the foundation at foundation@uwyo.edu or (307) 766-6300.

Named Gifts

Named gifts are a wonderful way to support the University of Wyoming and the students and programs that you love. Your named gift will help ensure that educational opportunities thrive for future generations, and it also will serve as a lasting tribute to you, your family, or a loved one. We welcome the opportunity to name in your honor and as a perpetual expression of thanks. Named gift opportunities include facilities or programs or endowed chairs, among other things. For questions about named gifts, contact John Small, Senior Associate Vice President for Development, at (307) 766-3934 or john.small@uwyo.edu

Tree and Bench Program

Your gift of a tree, a bench, or a picnic table for the University of Wyoming campus enhances the beauty and versatility of UW and is a living and lasting tribute to you as the donor and to the one you honor through your gift. If you have questions or would like to make a gift, contact Kristin Morrison, Associate Director of Stewardship, at (307) 766-3911 or jer2911@uwyo.edu.
