2018 UW INTERNATIONALIZATION AWARDS: CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

Each year, the International Board of Advisors (IBOA) recognize individuals who have significantly contributed to internationalization and the promotion of global awareness at the University of Wyoming. Nominations are currently being sought for the 2018 IBOA Student, Faculty and Staff Internationalization Awards.** 

Please note, self nominations will not be accepted. Winners in each category will receive a monetary award and an engraved plaque or medal.  All nominees, including the winners of these awards, will be honored at the Internationalization Awards Banquet held during the Spring semester in Laramie.

DEADLINE FOR NOMINATIONS: FRIDAY, MARCH 2, 2018 by 5PM.

Student International Excellence Awards

Purpose: To recognize up to four (4) UW students - both undergraduate and graduate, domestic and international - who have demonstrated excellence in promoting global and cross-cultural awareness and internationalization on our campus. Nominations for students who have worked to educate the UW community about important international issues, collaborated in projects with international partners, or who have engaged in research with significant international implications are particularly encouraged.

Nomination Process:
  1. A copy of the nominee’s résumé, including their major, GPA and activities at UW, highlighting those that are international in scope (2 pages max.)
  2. Two recent letters of support. One letter must come from the student’s nominator and the other should be from a UW staff, faculty or administrative member who can who can specifically address the nominee’s suitability for this award.

Faculty Award for Internationalization

Purpose: To recognize full-time faculty and academic professionals for success in international teaching, outreach, service and scholarship at the University of Wyoming. Nominees should exhibit strong leadership in establishing and maintaining activities that have enhanced internationalization at UW:
  • Opening and expanding opportunities for UW students to study abroad and/or interact with international students on campus
  • Development of courses offered on campus, in Wyoming or abroad that have significant global perspectives
  • Significant collaboration with overseas partners on research, teaching, outreach or service
Nomination Process:
  1. A summary of the nominee’s academic accomplishments, including education, appointments, primary areas of teaching and scholarly activity, a list of up to 10 publications, and a list of up to 5 examples of synergistic activities that focus on their international contributions.
  2. A letter from the dean summarizing the nominee’s international contributions to UW.
  3. Recent letters of support that directly address the nominee’s suitability for the award. Letters must be from 2 UW and/or US colleagues, and 1-3 from overseas colleagues(as appropriate).

Staff Award for Internationalization

Purpose: To recognize a staff member who has promoted global perspectives at the University of Wyoming. Nominees should exhibit strong leadership in establishing and maintaining activities that have enhanced internationalization at UW:
  • Opening and expanding opportunities for UW students to study abroad and/or interact with international students on campus
  • Promoting UW to international students, scholars and visitors, thus serving as an ambassador of Wyoming to the world
Nomination Process:
  1. A letter of support from the nominator summarizing the nominee’s international contributions to UW.
  2. A copy of the nominee's résumé, including work experience, service or other activities that highlight their international engagement (2 pages max.)
  3. Two recent letters of support from UW, US or overseas colleagues (as appropriate) that directly address the nominee’s suitability for this award.
 

**The IBOA likes to recognize Wyoming Citizens, outside of UW, that demonstrate excellence in promoting global and cross-cultural awareness and internationalization throughout Wyoming.  If you are aware of someone that may fit this description, we would love to learn more about them.  Please send a copy of their résumé, including work experience, service or other activities that highlight their international engagement to Carrie Hesco, chesco@uwyo.edu.
