Institutional Agreements

Create or Renew International Agreements

STEP 1:  Agreement Guidelines

Please keep in mind the following criteria when building and negotiating the agreement. To evaluate the potential benefit for UW and the partner institution, please consider:
  • Congruence with the academic, research, service priorities, and plans of the UW as well as the Department and College proposing the agreement;
  • Congruence with UW’s or a College's mission;
  • Anticipated benefits to students, faculty, and staff;
  • Evidence of institutional quality including, reputation, international ranking, and accreditation status;
  • Cost, feasibility, and sustainability of proposed activities;
  • Possible risks to students, faculty, and staff (including, but not limited to, legal and financial risks, threats to safety and security, reputation, etc.); and
  • Existence of current partnership that effectively serves the above considerations.  Please check the Partnership Database below before requesting new partnerships.

STEP 2:  Submit an International Partnership Proposal Form

  • Complete and submit to Isadora Helfgott at ihelfgot@uwyo.edu, the International Agreement Request Form available here.
  • Please complete the form with the most detail you can. For example, please enter the complete contact information for the partner university contact person.

STEP 3: Generation & Review of Initial Draft

  • The Global Engagement Office with either provide a draft of the proposed agreement or request a meeting to discuss further.

STEP 4: Internal Review & Partner Review

  • Once the initial draft is approved, it needs to be circulated for internal review at UW by the appropriate offices.
  • After relevant approvals (the process will take at least two weeks) are received, the agreement should be shared with the partner institution for review.

STEP 5: Partner Review

  • The agreement will then be reviewed and returned by the partner institution to UW.
  • Assuming there are no substantial revisions, the agreement is circulated to collect signatures of the designated institutional representatives for UW, usually the President.

STEP 6: Archiving the Agreements

  • After all relevant signatures are collected, the appropriate number of agreements are held at both UW and the partner institution.
  • The agreement is now fully executed and the parties may proceed under the agreement.
  • At this point, the agreement is also entered into the Agreement Database found below.
