WyGEC’s mission is to train faculty, students, and providers in the health professions to better meet the unique health care needs of older adults in Wyoming. The Wyoming Geriatric Education Center is one of 48 geriatric education centers in the country. WyGEC provides live and online training on topics including mental health, end of life care, chronic disease management, care transitions, and Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. WyGEC facilitates clinical training opportunities for students and professionals. WyGEC also sponsors educational conferences and seminars across the state addressing geriatric health care. For more information about our live and online training events, please visit our Education and Training page.
In addition to our training events, the WyGEC Online Resource Center (ORC) has a wide variety of resources including academic databases, links to aging-related organizations, as well as additional online training and continuing education opportunities.
In addition to funding from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), the John P. Ellbogen Foundation Excellence Fund for Geriatric Education supports training in geriatrics for Wyoming health care professionals.
WyGEC partners with professional organizations to provide seminars and training on geriatric health care topics at meetings and conferences. If your organization is interested in utilizing a WyGEC speaker, please complete a request form. To discuss the possibility of collaborating in the planning of a conference, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
