This educational workshop on end-of-life care will feature the Education and Palliative and End-of-life Care (EPEC) Curriculum with speakers Brenda Mosher, MSN, MP-C and Cynthia Works, MD. The End-of-Life Care Workshop will help attendees gain confidence in negotiating family and client challenges in dealing with painful emotional and social situations unique to end-of-life care. Attendees will also learn to incorporate practical end-of-life pain management principles and options into current practice settings and understand the importance of professional self-care.
The University of Wyoming Geriatric Education Center, in partnership with the Wyoming Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, will present the third annual Diagnosis Dementia Webinar Series this October. Topics will include: Signs and Symptoms, changes in the DSM-V, assessment and diagnosis; Management of Alzheimer's in the context of other chronic conditions; HIPAA & Alzheimer's disease; and Caregiver resources and support. Caring for those living with Alzheimer's Disease or a related dementia can be challenging work and requires the use of skills and techniques designed to safely support these individuals. The need for professionals with expertise in dementia care is growing rapidly as the prevalence of dementia continues to increase world-wide. In response, The University of Wyoming is offering a Dementia Care Certificate for healthcare professionals working with individuals with dementia. This certificate is an online self-paced program designed to fit within healthcare professionals' busy schedules. The modules are previously recorded WyGEC workshops, online trainings, and webinars that were taught by experts in the field.
This certificate will be offered for free to anyone who completes it by June 30, 2015 and for a fee of $30 per level for anyone who completes after this date.
This educational workshop on Alzheimer’s disease for healthcare professionals will feature topics including: An Overview of Alzheimer’s Disease, Keeping Medications in Mind: Complexities of Alzheimer’s Disease Treatment and Understanding Alzheimer’s Patients’ Needs and Supporting Family Care Partners. This conference is intended for the full range of behavioral health professionals. It will provide a knowledge base at the intermediate to advanced level for implementing and integration of behavioral and medical health care specific to rural areas.
