International Criminal Court Internship/Research in The Hague (The Netherlands)

Anna Clevelan

Anna Cleveland, University of Wyoming

Publication Date: Summer 2015

Research Question
Cleveland will be serving as an intern for the International Criminal Court in The Hague.

Significance
She has worked with Professor Jacobs and three other students on the case and has traveled to Jamaica to conduct a fact-finding investigation. During the summer of 2015, she will continue working on this case, and others, and will also be responsible for attending Court regularly.

Methods Used
She earned this position by working with Mr. Rodney Dixon, a London-based Barrister, and Haydee Dijkstal, an alumni of the College of Law, who visited UW to evaluate the International Human Rights Clinic’s ability to take on a case concerning the Tivoli Gardens Massacre in Jamaica. They deemed the clinic capable, and proceeded to conduct interviews for a summer position.

Conclusions/Outcomes
This work provides an opportunity to improve her legal research and writing, and provides exposure to international lawyers that she would not have contact with in Wyoming.
