Research Question
How and why is Edmonton becoming a sanctuary city while Calgary is not?

Significance
This project will evaluate circumstances that lead one city to become a “sanctuary city” and the reasons why its neighboring city is not.

Methods Used
As a part of my research I will conduct semi-structured interviews with municipal government, various social movement groups and NGO in both Edmonton and Calgary.

Conclusions/Outcomes
This fieldwork will take the collected data to be used to determine the outcomes of refugee sanctuary cities and what creates these structures.
