The True Gentlemen of Sigma Alpha Epsilon are some of the most
active students on campus. Originally known as Sigma Beta Phi, a local
fraternity founded on the University of Wyoming campus in 1903, the
chapter became a nationally chartered group of SAE in 1917. The combined
100+ year heritage makes SAE the longest standing Greek letter
organization on campus at UW.
Having won the John O. Mosely Award for Fraternity Zeal, the highest
award presented annually to a single SAE chapter by the fraternity's
national headquarters, and recently the recipient of the Most Improved
Chapter award for SAE, the fraternity is home to perhaps the single most
diverse group of gentlemen on campus at UW.
Actively involved with campus organizations, the SAE's consistently hold
a number of the seats on the Interfraternity Council, have members
involved in the ASUW Senate, and find other members active in a number
of other campus organizations, including club sports, intramural,
ROTC, band, and personal philanthropies.
SAE is home to the annual campus favorite, Masters of Misery, a haunted
house developed to raise funds for the Children's Miracle Network which
won a national award from the group in 2003.
Lastly, SAE has a strict zero tolerance hazing policy, and an open door
policy for visitors, so they'd be honored to show you what it's like to
be a True Gentleman.
