Sigma Phi Epsilon (SigEp) has much to be proud of at the University of Wyoming. Academically, the chapter membership has achieved a GPA average above the all-men's average at UW every semester since being founded on campus. Furthermore, Sigma Phi Epsilon has consistently attained the top GPA amongst all fraternities on the UW campus.
Sigma Phi Epsilon members are encouraged to be very active on campus and within the Laramie community as a whole. SigEps consistently serve the student body by sitting on the ASUW Student Senate. SigEps also serve in many other leadership positions for other Recognized Student Organizations (RSO's).
SigEp is also known to compete athletically on campus. SigEp won the title of "Overall Campus Champions" for Intramural Sports in 2008-2009, and 2010-2011. SigEp also holds the title of Greek Week Champions, in which competitions are held in various sporting and philanthropic events.
Sigma Phi Epsilon hosts many philanthropy events and participates in various community service projects. Every year, a date auction is held to raise funds for our National Philanthropy, YouthAIDS. Some of the community service projects include: Habitat for Humanity, Martin Luther King Jr. Days of Dialogue Community Service projects, volunteering for Special Olympics, Big Brother's Big Sister's Annual Barbecue, and hosting the Spaghetti Dinner for the Navigators organization on campus.
In the past year, brotherhood events include attending sporting events in Colorado, going to Jump Street, camping, cops and robbers, and paintball.
Sigma Phi Epsilon employs a unique system to join the fraternity by using what is called "The Balanced Man Program." This program teaches members about the fraternity experience without the use of traditional pledging or hazing. As soon as new members join, they are given full voting rights because SigEp believes that everyone has the right to change the fraternity for the better. SigEp believes in developing young men into balanced men with leadership qualities. Therefore, Sigma Phi Epsilon has a Leadership Continuum which is composed of four different programs. These programs are designed to enhance leadership qualities of the Brothers in Sigma Phi Epsilon.
Nationally, SigEp appears on more than 240 college campuses, and in the last 15 years more men have joined Sigma Phi Epsilon than any other fraternity.
