The Greek Life Taskforce

In a letter dated September 21, 1999, President Dubois appointed a committee whose purpose was to “determine what needs to be done to strengthen the Greek system” at the University of Wyoming. The letter contained important background information, specific charges for the committee, and a strong statement of the importance of the Greek community as an element of the University community.

The committee appointed by President Dubois became known as the Greek Life Task Force and included representatives from UW faculty, staff, alumni, and students. This group of individuals demonstrated outstanding commitment both to the Greek community and to conscientiously addressing the president’s charges. After initial organizational meetings, various subcommittees began working in earnest on the individual charges and on recommendations that would strengthen and stabilize the Greek community at UW. The entire task force also met weekly to exchange progress reports and ideas for innovative solutions to problems facing our fraternities and sororities.
