Background and expertise

Nancy Hoffer is Accountant and Office Manager for the Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources. Before moving to Wyoming to take this position in 2004, she served as Office Manager for the Thermal Biology Institute at Montana State University, Bozeman, where the professors of the Institute conducted research in the thermal features of Yellowstone National Park. Prior to that, she was a consultant in records management and document imaging. She designed a brochure for the interpretative trail at Lake Elmo State Park in Montana which featured the footprints and homes of the various wildlife residing within the park and co-authored an article for Montana Outdoors magazine about Lake Elmo, the only state park in Montana located within city limits. Hoffer also worked on two natural gas pipeline projects, the first in Montana and Wyoming and the second in Wisconsin. While obtaining her degree at Montana State University, she designed and implemented a records management system at Montana State University Physical Plant for over 90 years of administrative, accounting, construction, and remodeling records and wrote the documentation for maintaining that system. Nancy enjoys being a member of the resource team of the Wyoming Rural Development Council that conducts community assessments for towns and counties within Wyoming and gives assistance and recommendations after the residents set priorities for the future of their communities.
