Meghann Cranford Leads Sustainability Efforts at UW

Meghann Cranford

Meghann Cranford has found all sorts of ways to reduce waste and energy consumption while increasing natural resource awareness and student engagement at UW. A junior from Evanston, Wyoming, she is studying energy resource management and environment & natural resources with minors in business and sustainability. Alongside her full academic plate, she leads campus sustainability efforts that make UW a cleaner, less wasteful, more cooperative, and more positive place. While serving as president of the Sustainability Club and student chair for the Sustainability Coalition she’s helped organize UW’s first solar-powered music festival, piloted a Zero Waste event, and coordinated Earth Week celebrations. This summer, Meghann will conduct a funded research project assessing the environmental and social effects of plastic versus aluminum disposable beverage containers. The Haub School recently awarded her a Plummer Interdisciplinary Scholarship, recognizing her as the kind of student we love to celebrate: crossing disciplinary boundaries, engaged, and making positive change in the world.
