July 2020 (dates TBD) | 11-12 day travel to Chamonix
Summer | ENR 4890/5890 | 3 credit hours
Investigate the impact of climate change upon alpine environments, and explore the link between alpine culture and science in this international short course. With Chamonix, France, as home base, we will work with staff at the Research Center for Alpine Ecosystems to perform scientific research at high elevation sites and glaciers in the French Alps. We will explore the cultures and communities of the Chamonix Mont-Blanc Valley, and investigate the relationship between mountaineering and a changing climate in Europe’s most extensive mountain range.
9 hours of natural science & junior standing, or consent of instructor
Passport valid for travel the European Union
Financial contribution from each student: $4500 (includes roundtrip airfare, instruction, mountain guides, equipment, lodging, transportation, entrance fees & most meals)+ Education Abroad fee & travel insurance cost
Cheney Study Abroad Grants available (dependent on qualifying GPA)
