2013 Susan B. Cone Family Distinguished Lecture in History

Dr. Peter Boag

Dr. Peter Boag, Columbia Chair and Professor of History at Washington State University, delivered the 17th annual Cone Family Lecture on Monday, October 7th, 2013.

“Using Transgressive Sexuality and Gender to Reimagine the American West"

Peter Boag earned his Ph.D. at the University of Oregon in 1988 and has also served on the faculty at the University of Colorado, Boulder, and Idaho State University. He is the author of three books, including Same-Sex Affairs: Constructing and Controlling Homosexuality in the Pacific Northwest (2003) and Re-Dressing America’s Frontier Past (2011), the latter won the Ray Allen Billington Prize, a biennial award granted by the Organization of American Historians for the best book in American frontier history.
