If student designates a specific instructor, they then go right to the instructor and start making their plan, but if student doesn’t have a particular instructor in mind to work with, Coordinator tries to help find a match.
Students and faculty work together to determine the student’s academic and professional needs and goals and how this educational experience will mutually benefit the intern and instructor/students.
Instructor and student create plan with the agreed upon expectations, activities, projects, duties, etc. including how many academic credit hours (1-3) the student will earn.
Instructor will provide regular oral or written feedback to the student throughout the semester and a brief written evaluation at the end of the semester.
Ideas for possible activities in a Teaching Internship:
Attend agreed upon # of classes and review/read course materials
Lead designated classes, workshops, discussions, activities related to the Colloquium
Conference with students individually
Design a class session related to a text
Develop an assignment or lesson plan
Help with digital learning; create digital projects, workshops
Help with student research
Interns will not assign grades or be the sole commentator on a student paper which receives a grade.
