Connor Novotny

Connor Novotny received his M.A. in English Literature from the University of Wyoming in 2017. His research primarily focuses on the cinema of the American West. Investigating the role that films play in constructing a cultural understanding of the region, he sought out works that spoke to and against the traditional narrative Western as it has come to define the spatial West. In addition to teaching Freshman Composition (ENGL 1010), he has also taught Intro to Literature: Adaptation (ENGL 2020) a course where students combined traditional literary analysis with detailed film criticism while practicing the art of cinematic adaptation. Connor is involved with several organizations including the conservation group Trout Unlimited as well as with the practice of Restorative Justice, serving as a facilitator and community member volunteer for the Casper Police Department's RJ program.
