In facilitating research partnerships between Tribal Nations in the High Plains Region
and the world-class researchers at UW, HPAIRI’s work is divided into five areas intended
to:
1) Strengthen and facilitate relationships between UW and Wyoming-based Tribal
Nations
2) Empower tribal citizens through direct participation in the research enterprise
3) Educate the UW community and the State of Wyoming regarding opportunities to
develop
positive relationships with Tribal Nations
4) Develop a repository for American Indian research
5) Create a clearinghouse for research partnerships
In keeping with the theme areas above, HPAIRI’s fundraising goals include five priorities
that will enable HPAIRI to implement institutional goals in a meaningful and measurable
manner:
1) Student scholarships
2) Reservation-based HPAIRI office
3) Reservation-based research repository
4) Internship program
5) Funds to carry out research projects between Wyoming tribes and the University
of Wyoming
