Provides functional supervision and training of personnel performing power plant equipment and systems maintenance; performs Operator I or Operator II functions as required (see appropriate job description for job tasks/duties).
Vocational School, On-the-Job Experience, or Associate’s Degree
Provide functional supervision.
Performs maintenance and repair of power plant equipment and systems including boilers, soot blowers, diesel engines, generators, air compressors, turbines and chillers.
Maintain coal conveying system and feed water pumps.
Rebuild and repair air compressors.
Repair supply, return, and exhaust fans.
Perform functions of Operator I or Operator II, as directed. (See appropriate Job Descriptions.)
Assist in the design and implementation of mechanical alterations to new and existing equipment.
Assist Operator in draining and refilling heating and cooling systems.
Power plant environment; regular exposure to heat, dust, noise, confined spaces and heights; subject to mechanical hazards, electrical, and chemical hazards; and other hazards associated with the use of power/manual tools.
Mechanic Operator works under general supervision performing power plant equipment and system maintenance, rebuilds air compressors, maintains coal conveying systems and feed water pumps, repairs supply, return and exhaust fans, and performs function of Operator I or Operator II as directed.
Mechanic Operator, Senior, works under limited supervision performing the duties of the Mechanic Operator and as the lead worker functionally supervises and trains employees performing power plant equipment and system maintenance.
