Performs garbage and refuse collection, under general supervision, to maintain the University campus according to established safety and sanitation standards.
1 year work-related experience driving a hydraulic dump or sanitation truck
Drive refuse collection truck to and from dumpsite.
Lift and dump receptacle contents into truck.
Attach container to truck and operate hydraulic controls to dump contents into truck.
Operate hydraulic packer to compact refuse.
Dump refuse at sanitary landfill by operating hydraulic controls.
Perform mechanical inspection of dump truck and packer on a daily basis.
Perform scheduled lubrication activities and minor repairs as needed.
Operate snow removal equipment as necessary.
Report damaged and/or unauthorized containers to designated supervisor.
Sanitation truck and outdoor environments; regularly exposed to biological, radiation, and chemical hazards found within standard refuse generated by research and teaching activities; subject to adverse weather seasonally.
