Sourcing and Recruitment Specialist

Job Purpose:

Provides guidance and strategies to accomplish specific sourcing and recruitment related goals and objectives.  Performs sourcing to meet regulatory requirements and recruitment activities for specified positions.  Advises on all stages from initial recruitment planning, effective applicant screening and interviewing techniques and documentation, and the hiring and onboarding of qualified candidates.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field

Experience:

2 years work-related experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • University, state, and federal employment policies, laws, and regulations.
  • Computerized human resource information systems.
  • Marketing concepts and techniques.
  • Basic and routine computer applications and software in use in the assigned area.
  • Professional principles, practices and procedures for the assigned area (employment, benefits, or compensation).
  • University rules and procedures.
  • Organization structure, staffing patterns, and job design.
  • High level of customer service standards and procedures.
  • Basic, routine, and advanced project management principles, practices, techniques, and tools.
  • Human resources concepts, practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Principles of human resource management.
  • Basic, routine, and advanced laws, regulations, methods, and techniques in the area of specialty.
  • Basic and routine statistical sampling and survey methodology.

Skills and Abilities to:

  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with a wide range of individuals and constituencies.
  • Create, compose, and edit basic, routine and complex written materials.
  • Utilize and/or develop recruitment materials that employs the UW brand.
  • Analyze and develop creative solutions to complex problems.
  • Use a personal computer and associated software in use in the department or area.
  • Perform advanced research.
  • Gather and analyze statistical data and generate reports.
  • Develop and present basic, routine, and advanced educational programs and/or workshops.
  • Work with exceptions to policies which complicate work of designated unit.
  • Maintain confidential or highly sensitive information.
  • Provide consultation to customers concerning human resources issues and assigned unit's area of responsibilities, or provide referrals to other departments or units.
  • Effectively represent the University at events and other venues.
  • Work on special projects using project scheduling and time management procedure.
  • Work as a team member and foster a cooperative work environment.

Characteristc Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

Coordinates military and diversity sourcing and recruitment programs.  Identifies sourcing solutions, events, associations, and community outreach efforts to support staffing initiatives.

Assists job seekers and applicants with the recruitment process and actively participates in community outreach.

Facilitates applicant workshops, attends and coordinates job fairs. 

Actively utilize social media to seek out and connect with active and passive job seekers.

Works in a collaborative manner with the recruitment team to manage outreach efforts to potential candidates and keep appraised of availability and potential job opportunities.

Develop and conduct associated training workshops.

Performs sourcing, hiring and retention of specified positions.

Identify recruiting opportunities by researching new sources for talent, networking with college placement officers, auditing recruitment data, and assisting with the growing support services needs of the recruitment department

Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure coordination of program goals and tracking.

Supplemental Functions:

Perform other duties as assigned.

Effectively represent the University at events and other venues.

Keep abreast of trends, technologies and changes impacting university recruitment.

Working Conditions:

No major sources of discomfort, standard office environment; regular exposure to video terminal displays. 

Must be able to lift and carry materials and backdrops for job fairs and other events.

Frequent travel may be required.
