Supervises the freight receipt, shipping and delivery of items to University locations; prepares outgoing freight for shipment. Advises departments on the most advantageous methods of shipping and receiving.
Supervise and participate in the operational activities of the designated area including assisting with preparation of reports and maintenance of area records; prepare production reports and formulate work schedules.
Develop and enforce security, safety, and department regulations and policies.
Manage the operational, personnel, and financial operations for the Shipping and Receiving area; determine and approve expenditures, balance accounts, maintain revenue account, maintain accounts receivable, and ensure bills are paid in a timely manner; assist with budget and salary planning; provide efficient customer services being responsive to the needs of campus customers in tracking materials, filing claims and meeting delivery schedules.
Supervise and inspect work activities of assigned personnel; set up work schedules and daily operations; oversee cleaning and routine maintenance of equipment and work area.
Ensure the proper pickup and delivery of supplies, equipment, catered or other goods to other departments or locations.
Ensure all required documentation is complete and timely.
Supervise receipt of freight and check for damaged or defective goods;
Prepare domestic and/or international shipping and freight bills; determine most efficient means of shipment.
Prepare delivery memos; maintain records.
Negotiate with carriers for best terms of pricing and service.
Consult with departments on the best shipping methods.
Monitor inventory levels and reorder, as required.
Warehouse/outdoor environment; regular driving of delivery vehicle; exposed to temperature changes regularly; exposed to moving mechanical equipment parts, noise, dust and dirt; and regularly exposed to hazardous freight.
