Web Site Coordinator

Job Purpose:

Coordinate, develop, enhance, modify, and maintain web site(s) and other e-media platforms; gather information from multiple sources and publish information on designated web pages using web-based software tools.  Provide coordination of marketing and/or promotional efforts through the website(s) and/or other materials for designated area.

Minimum Qualifications


Bachelor's Degree in a related field


2 years work-related experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Computer equipment.
  • Internet/intranet network systems.
  • Computer applications for web site development.
  • Web development and publishing software used in the department.
  • Communications techniques and design.
  • Marketing practices and methods.
  • Copyright regulations and privacy laws.
  • Marketing communications, advertising, and publications.

Skills and Abilities to:

  • Design effective, informative web site.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Analyze problems and develop solutions and recommendations.
  • Maintain web site and stay current with web technology.
  • Make decisions on website development.
  • Utilize web coding such as hypertext markup language (HTML) or java script to create and maintain web site(s).
  • Evaluate web site performance.
  • Translate technical information into user-friendly program documentation.
  • Create marketing materials.

Characteristc Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

Plans, designs, develop, tests, edits, maintains, and documents look and flow of websites.  Utilizes web-based software tools for managing web content.  

Coordinate and gather information for site management.

Analyze and test web development against multiple browsers on multi-platform systems to eliminate errors.

Communicate with users to incorporate user needs and changes to correct problem situations.

Designs or supervises design of digitized images, banners, bullets, charts, image maps and other graphics to enhance appearance of site.

Supplemental Functions:

Write documentation for support of web site coordination and site management.

Learn, use and assist others with the use of web-site software tools or site management.

Maintain currency in programming field; may recommend equipment and software purchases.

Coordinate physical and electronic marketing and/or promotional efforts for the designated area; design and produce graphics for promotional materials.

Working Conditions:

Standard office environment; regular exposure to video terminal displays; occasional exposure to electrical hazards; some work performed in confined spaces.

Distinguishing Features:

Web Site Coordinator provides coordination of web site usage including development, enhancement, and maintenance using web-based software tools.  May assist in developing both physical and electronic marketing and promotional materials for the department or area.

Web Site Designer provides expert assistance in the design/enhancement of web sites including designing graphics and testing site for performance improvement and developing policy related to web site development and usage. Designs and markets the University's web site.
