Employee Instructions

To begin the hiring process you do, of course, have to apply. You can do this by finding the positions you wish to apply on our job listing site. Once you have applied you will be contacted regardless if you have been chosen to interview. Please also be aware of the pre-employment checks the University will perform such as: background checks, MVR, etc. If you have questions about these feel free to contact our recruiters at

If you are chosen for a position a verbal offer will be extended to you first then a written offer. Make sure to accept both if you wish to accept the position. If you need assistance with this please contact recruiting at If you choose to accept the offer, please pay attention to and understand the following:

  • Whether it is a classified staff, faulty, or at-will position.

  • Whether it is grant or contract funded.

  • Whether you have a probationary period.

  • Whether you are exempt or non-exempt.

  • How and when you will be paid.

Once you have accepted your offer please make sure you communicate with your department and understand what you need to do. Some things to discuss are:

  • Confirm when your start date is.

  • Ask if there is a dress code.

  • Where you should park.

  • What documents you need to bring to complete your I9.

Once you have completed all of the necessary Pre-Hire steps, the next step will be to create the requsition. Instructions to do so can be found in the knowledge base and are sorted by position. If you need any assistance with this please contact our Recruiting Team at

Once you are ready to review your applicants you will use the matrix, provided by your recruiter, to judge the applicants based on the minimum qualifications originally posted. To move forward in the process all matrices as well as a written evaluation for each applicant must be submitted to your recruiter. Before you interview the chosen candidates please send any and all questions to your recruiter. Make sure you are careful with what questions you ask and pay attention to instructions from your recruiter. When in doubt ask. To create an offer please make sure to enter the salary and start date. Please also allow enough time between the offer and the start date that pre-employment checks have time to be completed, preferably 2 weeks. Once the requisition has been submitted to the recruiter their last job is to work with the employee and make sure they have all the information they need to be successful. They need to:

  • Communicate with the employee on

    • start date

    • dress code 

    • parking

    • any other pertinent information

  • Send the employee to HR on their first day

  • Make sure the employee completes onboarding
