The University of Wyoming invites nominations and applications for the position of Senior Auditor.

The University of Wyoming is a doctoral/research (extensive), Internet II, Division 1-A, land-grant institution with more than 13,000 students enrolled in baccalaureate, master, and doctoral programs on and off campus. The only four-year, state university in Wyoming, UW is located in Laramie, a city of 27,000 nestled on the high plains between two ranges of the Rocky Mountains. The campus is a two-hour drive north of Denver, Colorado. Clean air, open spaces, abundant blue sky, a strong state budget with one of the lowest state tax structures in the nation, and proximity to numerous national parks, recreational areas, and forests are among the special fringe benefits.

The Senior Audit reports to the Director of Internal Audit and is an integral part of the audit process at the University of Wyoming. The position exists to review, analyze and recommend improvements to internal controls, evaluate the reliability and integrity of financial and operational information, review compliance with laws, policies, and regulations and report the findings to the Board of Trustees as well as University Officials. This person is responsible to develop audit programs and perform the test work to provide an evaluation of management's stewardship of university resources. They must interact with University employees at every level and be able to provide input, support and suggestions in an effective and thoughtful manner.

Minimum Qualifications are:

A bachelor's degree in accounting or a business related field or the equivalent from an accredited institution of higher education.

A minimum of 3 years of broad-based business experience; a minimum of 2 years working in the auditing profession.

At least one related certification such as a CPA, CIA or CISA.

Experience in financial information systems, word processing, spreadsheets and other business software to prepare reports, memos, summaries and analyses.

Excellent analytical skills including collecting and analyzing complex data, evaluating information and systems.

Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to problem solve.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred qualifications are experience in governmental accounting/auditing as well as experience with People Soft financial software.

Salary is negotiable and commensurate to knowledge and experience.
