Program Coordinator Information
The Summer High School Institute staff consists of (10) Program Coordinators (PC's). PC's stay on campus and live with the students for the duration of the institute. The may job of a PC is to work supportively with the faculty, residence hall staff, and students to make the institute more effective and interesting during the students three-week stay.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Provide a safe, secure, and happy environment for HSI students
- Help students adjust to college life, develop independence, and self-confidence
- Supervise resident hall living, activities, trips, excursions
- Be positive adult role models
- Staff the residence hall, day and night
- Accompany students to medical facilities
- Provide transportation in our fleet of vans
- Give laundry lessons
Selected PC's will receive a living stipend of $1500 plus room and board for the three-week duration.
Basis for selection of PC's:
- A bachelors degree is required
- Extensive experience with adolescents in school or a camp setting or other related group leadership experience
- Some experience at UW preferred, and/or familiarity with the UW campus
