Essay Prompts:

1. If you had $1,000 to invest in a project of your choice, how would you use that money to create the greatest possible positive impact within your community?  Please provide a detailed description of your proposed project. What positive change would you hope to achieve?  Be realistic as you consider your budget and be sure to include specific information about your project and your goal(s).
2. Discuss how you would use something you have learned –in a class, from a book, on the news etc.-to benefit your community.  This could be a specific technique (such as how to clean up a water supply), information about issues (such as sustainability) or knowledge or skills that you would like to share with others (such as world folklore or Irish dance). What is it?  Why do you think it would benefit your community (define the community you are targeting; it could be an organization, a town, a school, etc)?  How would you implement sharing or using this knowledge?
3. What future invention or innovation do you believe will most significantly impact the world? Why? Be sure to discuss the    potential short-and long-term ramifications of this development, both positive and negative.
4. Discuss a time when something you learned—in a class, from a book, on the news etc.—changed the way you thought about an issue, a person, a subject, the world around you.  What was it you learned?  Why was it significant? How did it change your perspective?  Did this change in perspective change you (your goals, your actions, your use of your time)
