Keep Girls in School Project
Staying in United States of America does not prevent us from helping in the development of India. In 2008 a new program was started known as “Keep Girls in School”, to raise awareness about children's rights in India, the importance of education in breaking the cycle of poverty, and the far-reaching value of helping girls avoid early marriage and receive professional training
In January 2009,
Women’s Studies Professor, Dr. Bonnie Zare, spent a few weeks
at
Aarti Home, and we are now raising funds for this care home and school
in Kadapa (population 320,000+), Andhra Pradesh. This inspiring place
has given over a hundred abandoned children an escape from labor, a
chance
to learn, a loving staff of supervisors and thus a new chance for the
healthy and happy growth that they deserve.
Clearly, a lot of funds are
needed to ensure these bright kids have access to their daily
necessities such as nutritious food, textbooks, shoes, clothes,
toothbrushes, soap, shampoo, etc., and our group will travel to Aarti
Home in January 2010 to hand-deliver the funds we raise.
